Chris Conner of Chris Conner Construction was the general contractor for the major remodel of our condo in the Chase Bank building in downtown Boise. I think this was probably Chris’ first experience in doing residential construction on the 8th floor of a commercial building. My wife and I found Chris to be very good to work with, as well as, very conscientious of quality and workmanship. He established a preliminary budget and then finalized the numbers prior to construction. It’s kind of unheard of that he came in a little under budget and had it not been for us making some changes, he would have finished ahead of schedule.

After interviewing multiple custom home builders in the Treasure Valley in the winter of 2012, we ultimately selected Chris Conner to build our dream home. One of the many reasons we selected Chris was due the fact we would begin the construction process while living overseas. We wanted a builder who would be at the construction site regularly, personally involved as opposed to utilizing superintendents, and provide us with the necessary transparency through the construction process.
Construction of our home began in April of 2013. Since we were living overseas when construction started, Chris was extremely flexible to accommodate our time zone differences. We utilized emails, skype video calls, as well as virtual “walk throughs” using a smart phone so we could see real time how decisions we made remotely translated on site. We have built multiple homes over the years and our experience working with Chris through the process stands at the top. Chris holds himself and all of his sub-contractors to a very high standard. If workmanship was not of the standard for his personal home, it would never be accepted for our home. One of the many qualities that set Chris apart for us during the process was the due diligence he personally took in not only selecting the best sub contractors but that they all understood the scope of work and high standards he expected from them. Chris never assumed something would be done correctly and left nothing to chance through over communicating.
Our home was completed in September of 2013 and we could not be more pleased. Building a custom home can be stressful but Chris’ many years of experience in the industry, attention to every detail, and integrity through the process made it a wonderful experience for us. A number of years ago we purchased a view lot in Quail Ridge area of Boise. The lot had a spectacular view and we really wanted to take full advantage of it with the right architecture, design and build. We developed the house design with a local architect and started looking for a builder. The lot however presented some challenges in the form of height restriction, existing driveway curb cuts as well as the construction footprint and positioning on the lot itself. We met with three well respected builders including Chris. Each builder was well known in the area and two had built other houses in the Quail Ridge development. Two of the builders began to "educate" us on why we couldn't do what we wanted to do for various reasons and suggested that we would be better off doing it their way. Chris, on the other hand, looked at what we wanted to do and sat down to figure out how to accomplish it. His willingness to listen, explore possibilities, combined with his extensive building knowledge allowed us to get the home design we had envisioned. Some of the adjustments we had to make to take advantage of the lots potential actually ended up being improvements to the original design and make our home even more special.
The quality of construction, the professional and courteous approach by Chris and his crew as well as the subcontractors he chose made the whole experience one I would do again without hesitation. We've lived in our home seventeen happy years and its as sound as the day it was completed. We have had people stop (strangers) who want to walk through or find out who the builder was on many occasions. We always send them Chris's way.
